Chatham Lab-Grown Padparadscha Sapphires
True padparadscha sapphire is very rare in nature. Most jewelers have never even seen one! Chatham makes the beauty of this exotic gem much more available with lab-grown padparadscha that has the sought-after color of the very best of mined gems. Growing padparadscha sapphire crystals takes a lengthy process of about six months. We start with a naturally mined seed of fine Sri Lankan padparadscha. We create the perfect environment so the crystals grow large and clean. When we cut the crystals, we cut away about 80% of the rough for optimum color and clarity. The result is a faceted padparadscha sapphire that rivals the mined gems you see in museums. And because they are created in our labs, they have less of an impact on the environment.
Best of all, we cut our padparadscha sapphires in a wide variety of shapes that are almost impossible to find in mined sapphires. We think the quality and beauty of our lab-grown padparadscha sapphires will captivate you instantly. To experience their enchanting beauty in person, visit a Chatham retailer.
About Padparadscha Sapphires
In a world where most people think that sapphires only come in blue, the padparadscha sapphire is an exotic rarity. Named after the Sinhalese word for lotus blossom, padparadshas have a color that is in between pink and orange, a color seen in the lotus. It’s a sunrise or sunset color, with both orange and red hues reflecting in its facets in a bewitching way.
Sapphires are the gems of fidelity, honesty, and truth. Padparadscha sapphire is a symbol of purity, beauty, and enlightenment.
True padparadscha sapphire is much more rare and valuable than blue sapphire. It has all of sapphire’s strength and brilliance, making it a beautiful alternative to blue for engagement rings, birthstones and anniversary gems.
Sapphire is most common in oval and cushion shapes. Other shapes may be difficult to find in sizes above a carat. They are durable and easy to care for with a hardness second to only diamond.
